Berlin Group Show at Intoxicated Demons Gallery
Over the last few months, I’ve been working with a VERY talented artist named Mike Hyp. I met Mike up in Boulder when I found out that he had a solo show that featured laser etched goodies…
He has a show opening tonight in Berlin at the gallery, Intoxicated Demons that will feature his design work that we collaborated on and gave it that “lasery twist…Is that even a word”?
This is a group show featuring work by illustrator Aro of Germany and painter Morten Andersen of Denmark.

Maker Faire 08
This past Friday, I went out to San Francisco to attend the Maker Faire in San Mateo. It was INCREDIBLE!!! I felt like I had died and been taken to a nerd paradise…
I honestly cannot say what the coolest thing that I saw this weekend was. The show was probably twice the size of last year, in attendance and the amount of actual “stuff”, both on display and for sale.
We got there on Friday and took a little trip up to the “Tenderloin” aka “this place looks like it is the site of a nuclear fallout, 50 years later (per my son)” to visit Gallery 1988 and Strangeco. It was a really good time and I was lucky enough to meet with one of the head honchos of Strangeco, check out the early version of the newest “Craola” toy… Let’s just say that he and Strangco have done it again and all you “vinylheads” out there should be VERY pleased.
Notice the super slick Kathie Olivas prints behind me? Bet you want one, I know that I did! The prints were nice but the paintings that were there we’re even better. :)
Walk into a little corner store before heading into Gallery 1988 and mention how much I used to like “Frankenberry” and then one of the first prints I see at 1988 is… yeah, you guessed it.. :)
Nann and Curry is DA Sheet!! Even if it is in a very sketchy part of town and you feel like it’s an ultra strange game of Frogger trying to navigate through the sidewalks of “mental illness” and “pigeons”, it’s well worth the trip!!
Here are a few of the shots from the Maker Faire
Got a chance to meet the “OG” from The Guitar Zeros www.theguitarzeros.com and watch him pelt out the pilxely bad ass tunes into the crowd…
Got to go eat dinner with my friend Kristen Rask of Schmancy and have water spilled on my crotch area by her aunt… Wow, refreshing and it’s quite the “pee pee stain look” too!
Adam with his new purchase from the Japanese dollar store… This had to be one of the most complicated drinks to open that I’d ever seen. ** luckily, the instructions tell you “don’t swallow the plunger” **
Maker Faire this weekend in San Mateo!!!
I’ve been reading Make magazine www.makezine.com since it first came out, when I happened to find it at a Microsoft TechEd tradeshow in Orlando a few years back.
Let’s just say this magazine is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES and has led to SO MANY changes in my life that I can’t even begin to explain… nor would you want to read about. :)
If you don’t currently read it, go to Barnes and Noble, Borders, online, www.makezine.com, where ever and pickup a copy. Even if you don’t get into it right away, take a sec to think of a realative, friend or even that little punk assed kid down the street that could use it.
The "Guitar Zeros" at Maker Faire May 3rd & 4th
There are so many amazing things to check out at Maker Faire in San Francisco but the one that I’m looking forward to the most has to be “The Guitar Zeros”.
Owen Grace is the lead “guitar” player in the band and is the MAN when it comes to audio processing/ hardware mods using Max/MSP programming language. He wields his injection molded, plastic axe and he and his crew collectively throw the “pixely goodness, all up in yo face”… Eww.. damn… did you get some of that binary on you? :P
If you have a chance to make it out to the “Faire” this weekend… do yourself a favor, it will be a really good time.
Check out the video… You can find out more info about them by going to www.theguitarzeros.com
A Very Blimey Exhibition
This has been a very busy week for me. I’ve been trying to finish up a few projects and get them out the door. One of them are a few little customized “Miss Blimey” goodies to add to the exhibit that opens on May 7th in Australia.
If you’re not familiar with Miss Blimey, you should go check it out over at www.missblimey.com. She’s actually really cool… for a “pirate”… AArrggghhh!!!
Desktop: Magazine Mention
So, I received a copy of the latest issue of Desktop: Magazine, which is an Austalian Design mag and it has a little write up on the laser etched skate deck that I did with HelloBard www.hellobard.com.
This was the first thing that I’ve had that’s been mentioned in “printed form” so that was pretty cool. Yeah, yeah… I know what you’re thinking… I meant first good thing that I’ve been “written up about in printed form”. :)
Droplet Vinyl Toy Show
My friend Gavin Strange is preparing to unleash his newest creation on the world. It is the “Droplet” toy that is being produced by the good folks over at Crazy Label. Here are a few teaser pics of some of the things that I’ve done to contribute to the show. If you’re lucky enough to be anywhere close to this show… do yourself a favor and go check it out…
Video clip from the Xyn Show in Bristol
So Gavin got a spiffy new camera and shot up a little Xyn footage from the Bristol show. Man… I’ve got “camera envy” in a BAD way!!!
Anybody willing to trade an HD Videocam for a Shitzu, who is a 6th degree snuggle master, a sock eating Golden Retriever and a 12 year old terrier that has been shot in the side of the head, survived heartworms and had most of his “teefs” kicked out by some callus a$$hole before I got him??? Other than that, he’s good to go! :P
